Malka's Valentine

Malka always enjoyed returning to the pridelands to play with Simba after their first encounter. Zazu would pick him up once a week from his own pride just to be sure he wouldn’t get lost again just like Simba promised. After a month’s passing, Simba and Malka grew to become close comrades. However one day when Malka came to visit, Simba was out exploring the pridelands with his father King Mufasa. A bit saddened that he wouldn’t get to play that day, Nala came bouncing up. She too didn’t have anyone to play with that day either, so the two of them went into the lush tall grasses on the edge of the rocky slopes of pride rock. They spent most of the day with each other goofing off as all young lion cubs do. Secretly Malka admired Nala’s strength and determination which quickly turned into strong feelings for her. Malka hadn’t ever experienced these feelings before but knew he should keep them to himself. He didn’t want to upset Nala or hurt the current friendships they had with one another.

The day started to fade away as the sun fell over the distant mountains, the two of them both drained of energy. Their words slurred from fatigue as they spoke to one another joking and laughing. As if choreographed by an invisible being, both of them lifted their heads up while their noses met. To lions this gesturer is a very intimate thing that only pairing couples do. Malka and Nala’s eyes grew wide with surprise. Neither of them knew how to react. Malka’s expression quickly turned into something quite more than just realizing it was an accident as they kept their noses together. In his mind he was holding back so many strong feelings for her. Nala could feel more coming from Malka than just friendship and she wasn’t about to turn away from him. They were both locked in time, excited yet very unsure.

Meanwhile Simba’s day had ended too and he went looking for Malka and Nala. Unfortunately his timing couldn’t have been worse. Simba had climbed up high on a rock to finally find Malka and Nala. From his vantage point he could see crystal clear what they were doing. While Simba didn’t see Nala as a love interest he was still very protective of her and didn’t approve at all what he was witnessing.

“What are you doing?” Simba yelled at them as he ran to break them up. Broken by the trance both Malka and Nala at first didn’t know what to say to Simba.

Simba sharply narrowed his eyes towards Malka and growled angrily, “Get out of here! You’re not welcome to come back.”

Nala didn’t take that too wall and argued with Simba. “It wasn’t anything Simba! It was an accident. It’s not Malka’s fault! ”

“ Pretty long accident! I saw everything!” Simba snapped back. Nala knew he was right, it was more than just an accident.

Malka turned to Simba sadden and very hurt. “Simba I really didn’t mean anything. We’re tired and it just happened. Like Nala said it was an accident. I didn’t mean anything from it.”

Simba saw how hurt Malka was, and his anger lessened, taking a moment to think. “Just an accident huh?” he questioned still unsure.

Malka nodded quietly, Nala looking on with concern. She knew how Simba’s mind worked and quickly got the idea to pounce on Simba to break up the tension.

Simba fell on his back as Nala hung over top of him, pinning him down and giggling.

Simba finally broke into a smile and laughed. “Haha alright!” Malka’s ears perk up with a slight grin.

Nala got off of Simba and he turned to Malka “I’m sorry I yelled at you. We’re still pals?”

Malka smiled, “Of course we are!”

Just then Zazu flew up to them and told Malka it was time to bring him home before it got too dark out. Malka nodded and then looked to Simba. “So I’ll see you next week then?”

Simba smiled, “Sure and this time I’ll make sure I’m not with my dad all day.”

Malka smiled and turned to follow Zazu home while Simba and Nala walked back towards the caves of pride rock. Still a bit scared and shaken Malka couldn’t get Nala out of his mind. His secret crush for her grew 10 times that day.

Later on that night, Nala laid awake unable to fall asleep next to her mother. Malka was on her mind and wondered when she would see him again.

Long background story.... sorry bout that. I felt I needed to explain this picture and my thoughts behind it. Basically I just wanted to introduce a new love story that hadn't been really explored too well before in the TLKfandom. Anyone else get the feeling Malka has a crush on Nala after reading the "Simba's New Bother" comic?
