The Eye of a Pirate by charfade The Eye of a Pirate by charfade
Arrrrg! Getting into the scallywag spirit with this one. This is a original creation for the Gasparilla Arts festival in Tampa. The final will be done on 8ftx8ft concrete pastel board. I've never worked on that surface before so I hope it turns out well. I ended up redoing that Gem about  15 times. Not sure if its right but, I've run out of time. I hope I can get a better one done on the final one.

Time: About 18+hours. Sketching painting on and off, total time unsure.
Program: Photoshop CS3
Created using Wacom Cintiq 21UX

Used this neat little tool for the skull reference.  studio.verold.com/projects/529…
The Macaw was referenced off of several photos.

:D thanks! First time working on that slate concrete board. I got the sketch and grid done last night. The material for it is awesome. I can see why you guys like to work on it so much.

Hmm, I don't know if we have worked on slate before. It's really heavy right? Anyway, that is awesome you like it! Why are they having you work on that material though if it is an outdoor festival?
